If you’ve finally decided to take the plunge and head off on a travelling adventure then, congratulations! Deciding to head off to the other side of the world and explore and immerse yourself in new and exciting cultures and to leave the ordinary behind is a huge step and one that also requires meticulous planning.
Especially where finances are concerned!
For many, the most confusing and difficult aspect of hitting the road is having the finances to be able to do everything you want to do and for as long as you want to do it. Don’t get me wrong, there are many seasoned travellers who have explored the world on next to nothing, but it’s far more sensible to plan and have some kind of monetary fallback.
Once you know how much roughly your trip is going to cost, then you can begin to finance it – and while we’d all love a long lost relative to suddenly appear and donate all their investments, money and treasures to our travelling dreams – click here to find out more about investment pieces – unfortunately, it’s not really feasible. With that in mind, I’ve come up with 6 ways you can save a little money for your travel adventures, whether that’s money towards your plane ticket and accommodation, or some extra cash to embark on some new activities while you’re out there. Learn how you can also save money on accommodation too!
I’ll admit there’s some great TV out there at the moment, but there’s also a lot of streaming services we end up subscribing to in the process…! If you can, cancel all of them and just stick to good old fashion TV. Alternatively, keep the cheapest one and bin the rest. The same applies if you have a costly cable TV package, if you’re heading off on your travels, chances are, you’re not going to be watching TV so you might as well cancel all your monthly fees now and save the extra cash!
Your gym membership
Keeping in shape is great for body and mind, but you don’t need to pay a huge monthly fee for something you could do for free, either outdoors or at home. Go for a run or take your yoga mat to the local park with a friend. See what exercise videos you can find on YouTube and cancel that membership!
Sort, Sell, Donate
We all have too many clothes…so, go through your wardrobe and put aside anything you no longer want or wear. Either donate it or sell it online for a little cash!
No more coffees
That desperately needed yet extremely expensive coffee you have every morning…No more! Get yourself a travel mug and brew yourself some coffee at home. You’ll be amazed at how much money you save!
Staying in is the new going out! Not only is it cheaper and just as fun – but you can stay in your PJs.
Plan your weekly meals
Going food shopping without a list and a hungry tummy? A big no-no! Planning your meals and shopping with a list will keep you on track. And no more takeaways!
