Berlin is among the most iconic and popular cities in the world. The culture, architecture and vast neighbourhoods not only make it one of Europe’s go-to tourist spots — but also the perfect backdrop to many films, so today I wanted to list some great (and not so great…) movies about Berlin and movies set in Berlin.
I remember being at my Couchsurfing host Laura in Milan in preparation for my arrival to Berlin, about five years ago. She happened to be living between the two cities and spending a lot of her weekends in Berlin and kept yapping on about how free-spirited Berlin was. Specifically, she mentioned several times how wonderful it was that people were just strutting totally nude in clubs like Berghain and Kitkat Berlin, getting it on in public as casually as you’d sip on a beer on a rocking chair on the porch of the Marina back where I’m from.
I fell in love with being in a German nude spa at Vabali spa berlin.
I know some of my German friends would roll their eyes at me for saying that Germans love themselves a bit of mixed gender nudity. Ahh yes, the German nude spa topic, here we go. But upon visiting vabali, I think they totally do. If you’re not familiar with the Freikörperkultur, of FKK (free body culture), chances are you will after spending some time in Germany. At the very least, you will have heard of a nude spa Germany one way or another. And while some would simplify that the FKK movement was born as a form of resistance against the East German regime, nudism in Germany has its roots way further in history.
Berlin frenz, if we’re going to put on the quarantine fluff, might as well do it with delicious vegan food with the multiple take away Berlin options.
There’s nothing funny about what’s happening right now. I’m assuming it’s no news to you that the virus Corona was born from the animal trade. COVID-19 is life-threatening but is also changing lives. Poor conditions for animals have in recent years caused a rise in diseases spreading from animals to humans, otherwise known as zoonotic diseases. With its origins in a wet meat market in China, my only hope now is that it’ll prompt some people to go vegan.
“Look at all the healthy food Berlin has!” Said no one ever.
I realised at some that what I’ve been writing about Berlin, and not only but also including the vegan scene, has been totally hedonistic. Vegan burgers, all the fast food, clubbing naked and plain just getting naked. I’ve done a pretty decent job in my now five years in Berlin, I’d say. But Berlin is not just that, I promise you.
It’s taken me the best of the last five to wrap my head around all the Berlin vegan restaurants and I’m excited to finally present you the best vegan restaurants Berlin has in store. Just for you guys, I’ve eaten my way around the best vegan Berlin trail, chomping on the finest vegan kebabs, burgers, doughnuts, cakes… in fact, just pick your favourite food. I’ve probably eaten it vegan in Berlin.
I was a bit underwhelmed the first-ever time I set foot in Berlin. I thought the city lacked in “WOW” factor and was sprawling too much and missing some form of a focal point. Some may beg to differ, but this was my first impression. So whenever I get asked for my best Instagram spots Berlin recommendations, I always find it a bit ironic.
Many European cities have a rich history, exciting culture and appeal to those who seek a new place to call home — but it’s safe to say that Berlin is among the most popular and truly diverse cities you could hope to hang your hat. In this post, I’ll help you decide where to unpack your bag for living in Berlin with an easy-to-digest guide of the best neighbourhoods in Berlin.
Looking for some ideas for day trips from Berlin? Berlin is an incredible place to live, but just like any other totally happening city, there are times when you just need to get away and recharge. We all need a break, and a change of scenery once in a while a great way to find new inspiration. We come back full of energy and ready to take on the world — but not everyone has the time to go on indulgent getaways. Often, though, a day trip is sufficient to give you that much-needed boost, and if you’re living in Berlin there are great destinations not so far away that are just waiting to be explored. Below are my choices of top day trips from Berlin that you can add to your day-tripping list
I’ll be honest, I have been putting off curating my weekend in Berlin guide for a while now because… well, I have been a little overwhelmed as there’s just SO much amazing stuff to experience in this city.
But the more I thought about it, the more I realised that whenever I have friends or family planning short breaks to Berlin I recommend different things depending on who they are and what they are interested in — be that culture, clubbing, food, wellness or shopping.
