With Google as my partner in crime, I have been planning city breaks, figuring out the best spots for a detox retreat and to go off the grid, and even trawling through my own archives to re-live some of my favourite hotels and beaches. But in all seriousness, lockdown has been taking a real toll on my physical, psychological and emotional wellbeing, so when I do actually get to go on my next trip it will be a detox retreat, for complete rest and reset of my body’s systems.

Wulf and Lamb
With two locations in the city, Wulf and Lamb offers surprisingly affordable, gourmet vegan fare. The restaurant’s 100% plant-based menu features creative versions of Shepard’s Pie, Thai curry, and a hearty vegan stew. For folks with a healthy appetite, Wulf and Lamb offers economically-priced comfort food like their mammoth veggie burger combo and full vegan brekkie.

I happened upon all those vegan restaurants in Manchester a little randomly. Not even knowing how vegan Manchester was, I saw an amazing tattoo artist on Instagram, thought to myself I had never been to that part of the UK, and without further ado – because I do stuff like that – booked an appointment and a flight and off I went. Good news everyone, veganism is on the rise! And with that, vegan fashion also is. I can’t begin to tell you how fuzzy it makes me feel when I see more and more people becoming aware of how small actions such as buying vegan sneakers and vegan shoes can have the greatest of impact on our planet, the people and animals. Veganism is not only changing the way we eat, but it is also positively changing our shopping habits, and the sustainable fashion industry is also gaining some sweet sweet momentum. That makes me happy.
Is Indian food vegan aside from vegan curry? I think a lot of people believe India is super vegan-friendly. The short answer is: not always. Have you heard of ghee? The ubiquitous clarified butter that makes an appearance in so much vegan Indian food? Yeah, not vegan. Indians are also quite fond of dairy (and don’t understand that it’s not vegan!), something I find mind-boggling given how much they love their cows. I haven’t been back to India since I was in Goa in 2015, and I’m excited to be going back for a quick break from the Winter in a few weeks. I’ll be looking for the best beaches of Goa, but meanwhile, I thought now would be a good time for asking my fellow travel bloggers what surprises hide for me in vegan India outside of vegan curry.
