Bali has become known in the health-minded sphere to be an incredible location for all things spirituality, wellness, veganism, and of course Bali yoga. And when it comes to taking a yoga retreat Bali is truly like nowhere else. For years now, people have been flocking to the island at all stages of their yoga journey to experience all the incredible energy and rejuvenation retreats the island has to offer. If you think you’re not advanced enough or not good enough, here’s one of many yoga quotes I truly love: “A flower does not think of competing to the flower next to it. It just blooms.” There are yoga retreats in Bali for everyone.
Screw men. Haha lol, not really, but just a tiny bit, still. This 2021, all I want is to gather with soul sisters and practice mindfulness away from men in a women retreat where I can let my hair down and my inner Wild Woman run free. This is the women’s spiritual retreats 2021 edition!
Having some extra time on your hands? Did you know online yoga teacher training courses were a thing? That’s right, Yoga Alliance recently approved fully remotely-obtained YTTs as accepted for registration with them (which is a prerequisite to be able to teach in the first place). Since it’s a relatively new business, the prices are still super low when compared to other YTTs and an amazing opportunity for yogis on a budget.
Getting started with yoga can feel overwhelming — there are so many amazing teachers, studios, online yoga courses, and, if your budget permits, IRL yoga retreats to learn the basics. But I honestly think the best, most accessible, welcoming — not to mention the cheapest — place to start with yoga for beginners, is at home with some good ol’ Surya Namaskar poses… trust me, I’ve tried pretty much every style and platform of yoga going and home practise and self-guided learning is the most effective.
I’m such a fan of yoga for boosting the mind-body connection and helping me achieve way more in life, that I hardly know where to start describing my experience and continuing journey. One place I do know where to begin is with my YTT in India, where a whole new world of knowledge, understanding, and compassion opened up to me. The best yoga teacher training India courses will teach you to spread your wings in a way that will alter your outlook on the world and will change you forever.
Stop saying that Summer is over! Kids are finally back in school, beaches are at long last quiet, it’s time to plan a yoga retreat Europe vacation! I know many of you (including myself) often look towards South-East Asia or South America for a retreat, but when the budget is tight and the time is short, there’s no need to go too far afield, as there are amazing options for a retreat in Europe. And while some countries may seem more appropriate than others for a relaxing yoga retreat Europe holiday because of their proximity to beaches or nature, I’ve found that there are fantastic options literally everywhere!
If you’re looking for a yoga retreat in Greece, I’ve got you covered. For this guide, I have handpicked the best Greece currently has to offer in terms of health, wellness and yoga getaways, for yourself alone or as a couple.
One of my favourite ways to learn more about something is to watch a documentary about it. I’m a visual person, so the movie format works well for me, plus it’s MUCH quicker than reading a book (I do love me a good yoga book, though). Yoga movies have been an essential source for teaching me more about this rich tradition and amazing practice, that has become such a central part of my life. So many interesting movies about yoga on Netflix have been made in the last few years, and quite a few of them are available on Netflix. There are a few older ones that I think are worth watching too, and although some are a little bit harder to get hold of, if you are interested in learning more about the yoga tradition I have found them to be super informative.
The Yoga Retreat Thailand trend is here to stay. And escaping for yoga retreats in Thailand mid-Winter is the perfect solo adventure.
Dreaming of Thailand, sizzling street food and the smell of chili in the air, bustling night markets and beautiful beaches? I sure as hell am. I think it’s safe to say Thailand evokes more or less the same few idyllic things for everyone. But one thing that’s currently gaining popularity is the Yoga Retreat Thailand trend. Escaping for yoga retreats during your Thailand itinerary mid-Winter is a great solo adventure and the perfect way to experience those magical holiday vibes you’ve been craving, but with a restful and invigorating twist of a health holiday, you won’t forget.
If you come here regularly or follow me on my social media, you probably know that yoga takes a very big role in my life. But beyond the fancy headstands (and don’t be shy from trying them! check out those inversions for beginners) and strange contortions I sometimes photograph myself into, yoga established itself as a daily practice in my life when I started backpacking through South East Asia and reading books about yoga. Spending long hours in cramped public transport or walking with a heavy backpack for several kilometres ended up taking a toll on my shoulders, back and hips and I found that daily stretching and yoga was the best way to keep my body limber and pain-free. So today is all about some cool yoga poses everyone should do every day.
