A quick vegas escape

12th October 2013

We were lucky to be invited to spend a long weekend in Las Vegas at the New York, New York last weekend. I had been to Vegas for just a few hours in 2005 on my way to California, so I was so happy to be able to return for a few days to be able to experience it properly.

It’s crazy.

We hardly slept. At all. And seeing Cirque du Soleil’s “O” from the 3rd row in the middle of the night whilst jet lagged is possibly the closest I will ever feel what it’s like to be on LSD.

Also, Steeve Wynn that just turned vegan, what’s up with that! All of Wynn’s hotels now have a separate vegan menu, AND THE FOOD IS BLOODY AMAZING! Not exactly healthy though, but, hey! Hello, vegan chicken and waffle from Terrace Point Café. Definitely our favourite restaurant while we were there.

Call me weird, but when I travel to a new city, I like to buy a bottle of perfume that will then always remind me of that place whenever I smell it. Since the trip to Vegas was paid for, I treated myself to something absolutely decadent from Barney’s NY and bought a bottle of Oud Immortel by Byredo.

Such a sophisticated scent! I think this scent is generally worn by men, but I have several “androgynous” perfumes and I think they are so sexy on a girl. This is hot stuff : It’s woody, incense-y, smoky, dark and a tiny touch lemony. There’s a faint note of patchouli in there also, which I have grown completely obsessed with lately (both for me and for Richard!). The result is a deep, sexy and mysterious scent, which is the diametrical opposite of who I am and I love the clash. It’s perfect. And the packaging is to die for. I’m in love.

On another note, I brought with me a Fuji Instax camera, so much fun!!! I rented this from Photo Service in Montreal, but I just might have to buy one for myself. These shots were taken at the Neon Museum in Las Vegas.

How fun are those? 🙂
