Super Glue for the Adventurous Traveller

20th December 2019

Backpacking and hiking is truly a wonderful experience. You see amazing places and get a better understanding of nature and the land. The global market for adventure travel is increasing year on year. By 2023, the global market for adventure travel is expected to be worth $1,335,738 million USD.

If you love the wilderness and why wouldn’t you, there are essentials you should always take with you. Super glue should be one of those essentials, and indeed you should keep a tube in your house, car, and when you go on a more conventional vacation. Let’s look at the reasons why this is.

Emergency Repairs

From time to time, we need to make emergency repairs. Things break, tear, or fray. If you’re in the middle of nowhere, this can be a serious problem. Having a tube of glue with you allows you to make quick and robust repair on the spot, minimising the problem and keeping your item in the game. Without glue or adhesive substance, this can leave you stranded in places where you really don’t want this to be stranded.

Waterproof Options

The better brands of super glue provide waterproof options. This was tailor-made to the traveller, especially the more adventurous one. If you develop an issue with your tent a dab of glue and it is all fixed. If you need to prevent that guide rope from fraying, again glue becomes your new best friend. It may be a cliché but don’t leave home without it and defiantly don’t go exploring a mountain without it as well.

Glues a Range of Materials

Where glue is concerned, it is important to know that better products work on a range of materials. This includes wood, metal, glass, plastic, cotton, leather, the list is endless. This makes it ideal for repairing items that you cannot fix with nails, screws, or bolts. Applicators have improved over time, and you can now make very clean repairs to the point where they are unnoticeable. Very handy if you have repaired sunglasses or a camera strap.

Super Glue for Maintenance

You may want to consider using your super glue for maintenance. Carry out a few routine inspections of your travel gear, including your clothes. You can prevent straps, belts, guide ropes, tents, cameras, sunglasses, all the things you would take with you on a travelling adventure from breaking. If you see signs of wear dab on some glue. It is far better to catch and solve issues now than it is to have to apply it when you’re out exploring in an exotic location.

Temporary and Permanent Repairs

Super glue is often used to make permanent repairs. Over time it has become stronger and stronger and has a wide range of applications. You can get different glues to make different types of repair so you may want to take a few tubes with you as this facilitates making better repair and maintenance work.

At the very least you should be able to make a repair that will keep your item useable until you can replace it.

If you are planning adventure travel, keep a tube with you. They are small, easily fits into a small pocket and should an issue occur your glue will prove invaluable.
