Empowering Yoga Quotes to Feed your Soul
Yoga has been for me so much more than a sport. As my practice has deepened over the last ten or so years since I started taking some online yoga class and reading books about yoga, at some point, something shifted and yoga took on a profound purpose in my life, and I am so thankful for this. One of my favorite yoga quotes comes from Patanjali and goes: “A mind free from all disturbances is yoga”. An undisturbed calmness of mind and better mental health can indeed come from yoga exercises.
If you think yoga is just Asana practice, then as a first step, I invite you to meditate on these empowering yoga quotes, watch some yoga movies, and keep practicing. And if you like this best inspirational yoga quotes article, check out also my vegan quotes and mindfulness quotes ones to immerse you the present moment and develop and attitude of gratitude. You never know, taking care of your body could impact the shape of your life in unexpected ways. Yoga is also a spiritual discipline.
At some point in my life, innocent yoga postures started to have a transformative effect on my body, of course, but most importantly on my mind and my soul. It became a powerful tool and the perfect opportunity daily to take time out from the daily grind and reconnect with myself on the mat, along with affirmations for self love. Yoga is a time to acknowledge how grateful I am and to let go of what no longer serves me. The physical act of daily yoga pose practice has evolved into a healing and empowering tool and I have discovered strengths inside of me I didn’t even know existed in times when I really needed them. The practice of yoga is a beautiful thing. Not to sound more woo-woo than I already do, but world peace comes first and foremost from inner peace, and yoga is a tool for that. After all, the ultimate goal of yoga is union, or to be at one with everything that surrounds us as part of the open-ended exploration of your being.
Yoga (as well as inspirational quotes on yoga and meditation) helps me become more in tune with everything internal and external and I feel this is serving me so much in becoming a better version of myself.

The best yoga quotes to feed your soul
Patanjali yoga inspiration
If you’re a yoga regular, chances are you are already familiar with the Yoga Sutras and the eight limbs of yoga. Written over 1700 years ago by Patanjali, the Yoga Sutras are a collection of nearly 200 little nuggets of wisdom, all of the amazing quotes about the nature of yoga, individually or as a whole. I have the book Light on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali by B.K.S. Iyengar (more on him below) and it’s an easier-to-digest version. The Yoga Sutras are short yoga sayings that will inspire you and that are likely used by your yoga instructor unbeknownst to you. Here are some of my favorite short yoga quotes from the Yoga Sutras. They heavily inspired the teacher of Sri Krishna Pattabhi Jois and many others.
“If you can control the rising of the mind into ripples, you will experience yoga.”
― Patanjali
“Aversion is a form of bondage. We are tied to what we hate or fear. That is why, in our lives, the same problem, the same danger or difficulty, will present itself over and over again in various prospects, as long as we continue to resist or run away from it instead of examining it and solving it.”
― Patanjali
“In order to achieve a state of yoga, one must develop both practice and detachment.”
― Patanjali
“Yoga is the settling of the mind into silence. When the mind has settled, we are established in our essential nature, which is unbounded Consciousness. Our essential nature is usually overshadowed by the activity of the mind.”
― Patanjali
The Bhagavad Gita yoga quotes
The Bhagavad Gita is a philosophical Hindu scripture, and the most widespread book of piety in India and it somewhat quotes yoga. It is read, reread, studied and learned by heart by Hindus and Yogis alike and contains a lot of yoga inspiration. Many encounter the Bhagavad Gita at a point of spiritual practice.
“Perform every action with you heart fixed on the Supreme Lord. Renounce attachment to the fruits. Be even-tempered in success and failure: for it is this evenness of temper which is meant by yoga.”
― The Bhagavad Gita
“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.”
― The Bhagavad Gita
“Through selfless service, you will always be fruitful and find the fulfillment of your desires”
― The Bhagavad Gita
“Seek refuge in the attitude of detachment and you will amass the wealth of spiritual awareness. The one who is motivated only by the desire for the fruits of their action, and anxious about the results, is miserable indeed.”
― The Bhagavad Gita
B.K.S Iyengar Yoga Slogans
Iyengar was an internationally renowned yoga teacher and author. Born in 1918 in Bellur in the south of India, he was initiated to yoga by his master T. Krishnamacharya in his teenage years to overcome health problems, including tuberculosis. With great perseverance in his constant practice, he overcame the difficulties and, very quickly, his master asked him to teach lessons and then sent him to Pune, near Mumbai. It was there that he founded in 1975 a yoga institute. His influence brought him students from all over the world because he knew how to develop a simple, precise method, experienced by himself and adapted to the needs of modern man. He is the author of Light on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, in my book one of the most important literature of yoga.
“Yoga is a light, which once lit will never dim. The better your practice, the brighter your flame.”
― B.K.S Iyengar
“My Body Is My Temple And Asanas Are My Prayers”
― B.K.S Iyengar
“Action is movement with intelligence. The world is filled with movement. What the world needs is more conscious movement, more action.”
― B.K.S Iyengar
“It is through the alignment of the body that I discovered the alignment of my mind, self, and intelligence.”
― B.K.S Iyengar
Osho quotes about yoga
Osho was an Indian guru. Originally named Rajneesh Chandra Mohan Jain, he was known to be an outstanding speaker and charismatic guru. He is the creator of dynamic true meditation, and he is also at the heart of several controversies. Almost 30 years after his disappearance, his teachings continue to influence his followers and the Netflix documentary Wild Wild Country sheds some more light on the controversy.
“If you love a flower, don’t pick it up. Because if you pick it up it dies and it ceases to be what you love. So if you love a flower, let it be. Love is not about possession. Love is about appreciation.”
― Osho
“Yoga is the science to be in the here and now.”
― Osho
“A certain darkness is needed to see the stars.”
― Osho
“If you suffer it is because of you, if you feel blissful it is because of you. Nobody else is responsible – only you and you alone.”
― Osho
