The best spirituality gifts for any occasion
Spirituality Course on Udemy
A great gift for someone who is either just discovering spirituality or looking to advance their spiritual development, Udemy has plenty of fantastic spirituality courses. From simple breathwork and spiritual cleansing to full shamanic initiations, there’s a spirituality course for every type of person, no matter what stage they’re at on their spiritual journey.
A Salt Lamp
A salt lamp is one of the best gifts for spiritual people who need a little extra mood boost or are having trouble sleeping. Himalayan salt lamps are made from the mineral-rich pink salt mined from Pakistan’s Khewra Salt Mine. As well as looking lovely and creating a relaxing ambience in your giftee’s home, they are also believed to have many health benefits. Salt lamps are ‘natural ionizers’, which means they change the electrical charge of the air around them to form negative ions. These negative ions are believed to improve air quality, increase levels of serotonin to boost mood and help promote sleep. A practical and tasteful spiritual gift idea.
Yoga Club (Subscription Box)
Yoga Club offers activewear subscription boxes with stylish workout outfits which are hand-curated for your — or your giftees — unique personal style. The boxes feature yoga gear from some of the best athleisure brands in the world at a rate that’s significantly lower than their marked retail price. As well as the regular subscription boxes, you can also order a single gift box. You simply choose the box and Yoga Club will email your recipient with an interactive style quiz so that the gift is completely personalised to them.
A Yoga Mat
When looking for spirituality gifts ideas, you really can’t go wrong with a yoga mat. A staple for every yogi, yoga mats can be used for performing yoga asanas, as well as for meditation and many other exercises. Even if your recipient already has a yoga mat, I’m sure they’ll appreciate another one anyway – I would! They may already be in need of a new mat but were waiting for the right time to dish out for one. And if not, a second yoga mat is still a handy thing to keep in the car or at work when rushing to practise around a busy schedule. Manduka makes great mats, otherwise here are some cheaper options.
A Zen Garden
Another household item that makes a lovely housewarming gift for a spiritual person is a zen garden. Zen gardens are miniature versions of Japanese zen gardens, which feature natural elements such as sand, rocks, and statues. Just like their full-sized counterparts, household zen gardens promote meditation and relaxation, aid stress relief and increase focus. They offer a calm and tranquil natural space that can be placed on a desk or elsewhere around the home. You can even make a zen garden yourself for an extra thoughtful and personalised gift.
A Chakra Book
Chakras – which means wheels or disks – are the various energy focal points along the spinal column responsible for disturbing spiritual life energy – also known as Qi or Praana – around the body. The concept is found in the early traditions of Hinduism. Many spiritual practices including yoga and breathwork aim to release blocked energy in a chakra and fix the physical, mental and emotional imbalances caused by such blockages. A chakra book is a great gift idea for a person just starting out on their spiritual journey or wanting to learn more about this important element of spirituality.
A Meditation Retreat
Looking to really push the boat out and find an extra special spirituality gift for a loved one? Try treating them to a meditation retreat. Whether it’s a long weekend at a spiritual retreat nearby or two weeks practising meditation and yoga by the beach in Costa Rica, they’re sure to love it! I know I would. Plus, if you book for two people, you can keep them company and treat yourself at the same time.
A Meditation Pillow
Another staple on any spiritual gifts list is a meditation cushion. I love using my meditation cushion to make longer meditation sessions more comfortable. A high-quality meditation cushion is filled with buckwheat which stops it from shifting and helps you to feel more grounded in your practice. It may be a little pricer than your average cushion, but that’s what makes it such an amazing gift.
Tibetan singing bowls are bowls that produce deep sounds and vibrations when hit and circled with a mallet. They’re used to promote relaxation and are believed to offer powerful healing properties including stress relief, pain relief, aiding sleep, reducing depression and balancing and harmonizing the body. In fact, Buddhist monks have used Tibetan singing bowls in meditation practice for decades. While you can often find singing bowls used in meditation centres, yoga studios or by music therapists, it’s less common to find them in people’s homes. Making it one of the most unique spirituality gifts if you’re looking for something a little different.
Sam Harris’ Waking Up Book
Sam Harris’ ‘Waking Up: A Guide to Spirituality Without Religion’ is one of my favourite spirituality books and a great spiritual gift idea. Harris’ book explores the scientific underpinnings of spirituality and offers a guide to meditation as a rational spiritual practise informed by neuroscience and psychology. The perfect gift for your atheist or agnostic friend who wants spirituality, and to partake in spiritual practices such as mediation and mindfulness, without the religious aspects.
Finally, an acupressure mat is a great gift for a spiritual person who also loves trying out new wellness trends – like me! An acupressure mat is an at-home alternative to the traditional Chinese medicine techniques of acupressure or acupuncture. The mats contain thousands of tiny plastic spikes and are designed to target acupressure points in the body in order to reduce pain, promote relaxation and restore balance in the body, mind and spirit. Gaining popularity over the last few years, there are many different brands of acupressure mat currently on the market, including the original shakti mat, the bed of nails mat and the convenient travel-sized spoonk mat.
